An Oasis of Calm

A tranquil and friendly meeting venue..

Who are we?

Plymouth Quakers have been located on Mutley Plain since the 1920's when they founded the Swarthmore Adult Education Centre. In 2003 it was decided to build the Quaker House on the site of a former electrical shop next door. This was then refurbished in 2012 to improve disability access to the ground floor room, as well as reconfigure the downstairs space to include two new counselling rooms

The new facility offers a modern accessible meeting house for Plymouth Quakers as well as a friendly affordable venue for a variety of groups and individuals providing classes and community activities. The vision was to provide a sustainable building with people making an appropriate contribution to cover the running costs whilst at the same time offering a welcoming space in which people could meet.
